On the way to work
Rim Ho Chol created this artwork by using ink on paper which is called 'Chosunhua'. I researched this painting and it turns out that all the people 'on the way to work' are heading towards the steelworks. The artist decided to focus on the outside view of the factory. He creates the feeling of comradeship, morning and winter. You can almost feel the cold damp air that they most trudge through to get to work in the early hours of the morning. The sense of silence is present; the snow would muffle all sound including the noise of people talking. The artist has painted it from above, to exaggerate the feeling of a river of people. I really like this artwork; he has done a spectacular job, in my opinion.
1979
My first impression was that it I was incrediblely cute as the pig is just so small. The artist is Sopheap Pich, he comes from Cambodia which is what inpired his artworks. I'm not sure what the little pig is meant to represent though.

Landscapes - Isle of Skye
I would feel a breeze and the soft grass. It would smell fresh and homely. The warm sunshine would balance out the cool temperature. There would be a path left behind in the grass where i had walked through.I would hear the sounds of nature possibly mixed in with children's laughter as the play in the field.
Aunty Sallys Tips
Red backgrounds makes the colour richer and are generally better to work with.
Block in the big shapes.
Shape is everything.
Work quick don't dwell on areas that you think aren't as good, come back to them later.
Start with the darker colours then work back in with the lighter ones.
Use long brush strokes.
You can never go wrong with using your fingers to paint.
It's very important to keep your colours clean.
Ideally have two palettes; one for colours and the other for mixing.
Use multiple brushes.
Don't just use one shade of colour use as many as you can.
Associate the shapes in the painting with shape you're familiar with, that way you'll be able to paint them better.
Correct as you go.
To much layering can dull down the painting.
Most importantly - "Don't fuss to much".

First Post 2010
Art has become slightly harder since year eight and sometimes even less enjoyable. I don't like the idea of having to do everything twice, we should just be able to pick a blog or diary. Oh well. The landscape images and the writing that goes with them are in my diary. I will not be putting them on the blog, as that would mean doing it twice.

Almost Finished Now!
I have now documented my journey of making my mask. Its now almost finished and then we will be doing stuff on photo shop with pictures of our masks.
The Colour of My Mask
The colours on my mask centre around different shads of pains grey, purples and white. The colouring isn't quite what i expected it to be, but its close enough. On the back of my mask around the flowers i made it a light blue colour and I'm going to put specks of white through it on a later date, but first I'm going to finish of painting the base coat of my flowers which are going to be more purple. Then I'm going to go through my flowers and make them more defined with some different colours.
My Masks Texture
I have decided on the texture for my mask, well i did ages ago and now the texture is finished. I shall tell you what it was anyway, okay it was a dog/bear texture stretching outwards from the nose and going from the nose in many different directions so it look more interesting. That was just on the front of my mask on the back is a totally different story.
On the back of my mask i made a smooth layer with the modeling paste and then i though it was best to put something on the back to make it interesting to so i added flowers. Although this has nothing to do with my three animals it does so my randomness so its acceptable.
The big thing on top of my mask is meant to be like how the cartoon squirrel's hair sticks up and tilts to the side, i call it their wisp of hair but others may not. This was textured like the front of the mask which also worked out great, if i do say so myself.

Pattern for my mask
With my mask i have no idea what type of pattern i want to do, if any that is. If i had deiced to do a pattern it would be on one or a few sections and it would be a big and pretty pattern like vines or something like that. I have selected three colours for the main colour theme. These colours will be used through out my mask in base colour, toning and feature patterns that i might be doing.

Different Animal Textures and Furs

~Snake Skin~ Snake skin is made up of lots of little squares almost scaly. The small pieces of skin are different colours, and when you see all the different squares of skin together it makes a vibrant pattern on the snakes skin.

~Tiger Fur~ Tiger fur is like any other fur smooth, soft and cuddly the difference between tiger fur and any other type of fur is the colouring of it. It is a sandy orange with black stripes, all tiger fur patterns are different its like them having their own finger print.

~Perch Tail~ Perch scales are a bronze gold on top and a silvery white underneath the fish. Fish scales shimmer in the light, and when brushed back the other way they feel sharp. the colour of the fish scales are constant.

~Elephant Skin~ Elephant skin is wrinkly and feels rough, its grey and every elephant has a different pattern. Elephant wrinkles are not in any particular pattern order.

~Bird Feathers~ These bird feathers are very vibrant, and when brushed against you feel soft. They tickle when someone rubs them against you. Normally male birds are brighter then females so the predator doesn't kill the mother bird. The colour pattern in bird wings are not symmetrical.
~Leopard Fur~ Leopard fur is most like tiger fur in the texture of it. Leopard spots are not all the same shape and size they vary as the pattern continuous. The colour of leopard fur is not as bright as other furs because it helps it camouflage in its natural surroundings.

I have now finished my second coat of paper and I'm just about to go on to my first white coat of paper. The reason we do a white coat then news paper coat is that when you go to start paper mashing you now were you've been.
In this photo you can't really see the eyes but they are meant to be squirrel eyes and the spikes are like the cartoon squirrels curl. It has bear ears and roundness of its head is bear, and a dog nose and jaw.
P.S don't judge me by this picture, because i look really bad in it.

So people started paper masheing today all though there not finished i don't think they care that much. i like the way my mask is going i know that I'm going to have heaps of trouble when it comes to the painting though because like drawing i suck at it. Today Mrs Hampton helped me with the dogs mouth and now it will look great!

Art is a blast
Mrs hampton i know this is not the best exsue but i forgot the name of your website so i might not be able to do all the stuff i'm meant to.
Some Advice
The advice if any i would give to the next years year eight's is that to listen all to well to the teacher and not to leave the blog to the last minuet that is way better advice then the different techniques of things even though this piece of advice might not be what i had to do.

The first animal for my mask
The first animal i picked was a bear but i could not just do bear ears because different types of bears have different ears so i narrowed the breed of bear down to a polar bear. I like the way the polar bear ears sit on their head and are just gentle curve with a groove in it. Plus don't you think there so adorable just look at them :P
