On the way to work

Rim Ho Chol created this artwork by using ink on paper which is called 'Chosunhua'. I researched this painting and it turns out that all the people 'on the way to work' are heading towards the steelworks. The artist decided to focus on the outside view of the factory. He creates the feeling of comradeship, morning and winter. You can almost feel the cold damp air that they most trudge through to get to work in the early hours of the morning. The sense of silence is present; the snow would muffle all sound including the noise of people talking. The artist has painted it from above, to exaggerate the feeling of a river of people. I really like this artwork; he has done a spectacular job, in my opinion.

My first impression was that it I was incrediblely cute as the pig is just so small. The artist is Sopheap Pich, he comes from Cambodia which is what inpired his artworks. I'm not sure what the little pig is meant to represent though.
